Hello,
Amidst the tumult concerning the Microsoft ruling and the NASDAQs
dropping like a stone to loose a record 349 points, a snippet of
information managed to find it's way to me that may be of great
importance to you.
An extremely malicious new virus has been discovered by the FBI
that wipes out the data on hard drives and dials 911. (Mac users
are unaffected).
"The 911 virus is the first 'Windows shares virus'. Unlike recent
viruses that propagate though eMail, the 911 virus silently jumps
directly from machine to machine across the Internet by scanning
for, and exploiting, open Windows shares. After successfully
reproducing itself in other Internet-connected machines
(to assure its continued survival) it uses the machine's modem to
dial 911 and erases the local machine's hard drive. The virus is
operational; victims are already reporting wiped-out hard drives.
The virus was launched through AOL, AT&T, MCI, and NetZero in the
Houston area. The investigation points to relatively limited
distribution so far, but there are no walls in the Internet."
Apparently, prevention lies in making sure you have file sharing
turned OFF.
"If you find that you did have file sharing turned on, search
your hard drive for hidden directories named 'chode', 'foreskin',
or 'dickhair' (we apologize for the indiscretion - but those are
the real directory names). These are HIDDEN directories, so you
must configure the Find command to show hidden directories. Under
the Windows Explorer menu choose View/Options: 'Show All Files'."

InternetCash.com have announced what appears to be a promising
alternative to using a credit card for online purchases. With
pre-paid stored value cards called InternetCash(TM), you can now
make purchases from participating retailers that are both secure
and private. At first look, it seems an ideal solution for those
who don't have credit cards, teenagers and anyone concerned about
Internet security and privacy issues.
InternetCash works like a pre-paid phone card and will be
available from participating retailers and convenience stores
nationwide across the US. The cards are available in $10, $20,
$50, and $100 amounts. Once you've bought your card you head over
to InternetCash.com to activate it, after which you can
immediately start shopping online. At no point are you required
to provide InternetCash.com with any personal information, such
as your name or email address.
So far though, there are only 60 online merchant sites accepting
the card, with none of the biggest names represented. However,
the company say they are adding new retailers every day, with
over 70 more merchants in the process of InternetCash-enabling
their sites and a projected 15,000 retail outlets distributing
the cards by September.
Cards are now available for purchase in California, Connecticut,
New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Vermont. Visit

The results of a survey of web site marketers has found that most
prefer to submit manually to search engines rather than use
auto-submission tools. Most marketers said that this was because
they "know" manual submission is more effective.
