YES!
Hello Azam,
To answer your survey, yes I receive more than 30 emails a day.
Usually it turns around 50-60 and that is only through my 2 major
e-mail addresses! I won't event calculate the ones I have for
list groups!!!!
Some times I find it time consuming, but at the end I end up
learning a lot through these readings!! Especially Ezines....
Warmest Regards,
Johanne Alarie
mailto:composart+videotron.ca
[Azam: Hope Biz Bits is one of those you learn from, Johanne. :-)
I too find dealing with email time consuming. Unfortunately
however, because I am constantly trying out new ezines,
unsubscribing from others, deleting spam and setting up filters,
a good portion of this time is spent on email management as
opposed to actual reading!]
Hi Azam,
Yes I get about 600 a day, so thirty would be a nice number to
get.
Thanks for good email filters, that work good enough to keep my
mailbox usable.
Penny. 'You know there is a right way and a wrong way to market
online. Learn the right way with PennysWorth Marketing.'
http://pennysworth.bizhosting.com?BB
[Azam: Dunno Penny - if I only got 30 a day, I might start to
worry I'd become invisible! I too make extensive use of the
filters in Eudora, but although they are good, I have another
feature in mind that I wish they would implement. Right now I can
click on a message and select functions such as forward,
transfer, trash, label, etc., from various drop-down menus. What
I want is an additional spam control function to be added to one
of those menus: 'Ban this address forever.' If I could do that in
one click, I'd be a very happy man!]
I get about 250 e-mails a day - mostly e-zines and spam!
Thanks and have a great day!

[Azam: Spam is a continual drain on resources. I used to get
loads, but by taking more care about where I make my email
address available, I have managed to substantially reduce the
amount. On a different subject, I like the sound of your new site
Ken.]
Yes, I receive over 30 e-mail messages a day. I write two weekly
e-zines where I encourage reader participation, so I read and
answer everything. Plus I belong to one of the greatest
discussion groups, Expertz mailto:Experts+egroups.com that
Kenneth Tang moderates, and the people there are so much fun to
talk to and learn from. Jan
"Tame Your Brain!" success e-zine with the famous NLP Technique
of the Week! FREE REPORT "10 Things You Probably Never Thought Of
To Alleviate Pain!" Mailto:dontworry-subscribe+listbot.com
[Azam: Yes, Jan. Positive, productive email of that kind,
feedback from Biz Bits and the Now Sell site, plus quality ezines
are the only emails I genuinely enjoy receiving. Unfortunately
however, like many others, I am also constantly dodging spam and
unsubscribing from low value publications that promised more, or
that I was subscribed to against my wishes (this one really
annoys me. Just because I have written to someone, requested
information, submitted an article, or done an ezine swap with
them does not mean that I want to be subscribed to their
publication! Worse, many that employ this strategy also require
you to visit a web page in order to remove yourself ... ARGH!).]
I have several email accounts, and I get at least 30 or more
messages a day in each!! My POP account gets the most though.
Some days, I receive in excess of 200 email messages! Takes a
long time to go through, even with filtering in place! AH! The
joys of webmastering :-P

[Azam: Whenever I have used an FFA submitter, I have always
provided the address of a free web-based account. To be honest, I
never read any of the emails received there. Nor do I read many
of the emails addressed to my domain, other than the subject
line. In fact a lot are automatically filtered to the trash! On
the other hand, put my name in the subject line and you are
almost guaranteed my attention.]
Yes, I get almost a thousand a day...I have a very tough time
getting through them all. A major goal for me is to whittle that
down! (I was VERY ambitious and overextended myself!)

Get The Fundamentals Right & Business Success Will Follow
---------------------------------------------------------
By Kevin Sinclair, CPA.
To succeed in business on the Internet, or in the off-line
world, requires an understanding of the fundamentals of
business and using them to your advantage. In this article,
I will outline what I consider the fundamentals of business
success are.
Believe in Your Product or Service
First, you need to believe in your product or service. If
you don't believe in it, you will have a great deal of
difficulty selling your product or service to other people.
You also need to have confidence in your ability to provide
and promote your product or service. An old saying sums this
up best by stating: "All things are possible to he who
believes".
Aptitude for the Business
Secondly, you need to have an aptitude for the business. You
will also need the motivation to acquire at the very least
basic skills and experience before you start your business.
If you were to set yourself up as a web designer but did not
have any skills or training in this area, then you will
almost certainly fail. However, if you are employed as a
bookkeeper and you enjoy the job, then setting up your own
bookkeeping service would be a sensible choice with a
greater chance of success.
Be Responsible
Thirdly, you need to be responsible to your customers. This
is achieved by only making commitments you can keep and by
not engaging in misleading or dishonest advertising. If you
want to build long-term success in your business, then you
need to develop long-term satisfied customers. When their
needs are being satisfied, customers are at their happiest.
Aim for High Quality
The next principle is that you need to have a high quality
product or service. This will be your best advertisement.
Inferior quality products usually generate poor customer
satisfaction. A dissatisfied customer can be very dangerous
for your business. Usually they tell on average about
fourteen other people who will then be disinclined to buy
your product or service based on the experience of that one
dissatisfied person. Therefore, always aim for a top quality
product or service.
Make a Profit
However, it is not enough to have a top quality product or
service. You also need to have a product or service that
will generate enough income to cover all your business
expenses and give you a satisfactory wage. A friend of mine
once said that business is only about two things: satisfying
customers and making a profit. A simple statement but very
true.
Sufficient Start-up Capital
You also need to have access to enough cash to set up and
run your business, and enough income to meet your private
expenses during the start-up phase. A major problem with
many home and small businesses is that they fail to have
enough money available to ensure their success. There is
nothing more discouraging than having a great idea, getting
it started on a shoestring, not being able to expand due to
cash shortages and seeing a competitor come along and steal
your market.
Start Small
Another fundamental principle of home business success is
that you start small. This will enable you to minimize your
overheads until you are confident of your success in the
marketplace. For many of you, this would mean starting
part?time while retaining your full?time income source. When
you can, expand your business into a full?time venture. This
is a great way of minimizing the risk of failure.
Be Well Organized
Successful businesses are well organized. They have a system
for keeping track of expenditure and earnings. This level of
organization in your business will help to ensure that you
are providing your customers or clients with a top quality
product or service. It will also ensure that you have enough
information available to maximize your profitability and to
satisfy your legal requirements for record keeping.
Be Prepared
Preparation is another key ingredient in your business
success. This preparation will include being aware of the
regulations and laws affecting small and home business.
Armed with this knowledge, you should not have any nasty
surprises from unintentional violations of the law.
Have a Business Plan
Finally, successful businesses have developed a
comprehensive business plan. This is their road map to
success. It tells them where they are going and how they are
going to get there. There are a number of good resources
about business planning on the Internet. Here are some:
http://www.bplans.com
http://www.businesstown.com/planning/creating.asp
http://www.bizplanit.com/vplan.htm
Conclusion
It has been said that genius is one percent inspiration and
ninety-nine percent perspiration. The same can be said about
business success. Without having the fundamentals in place,
a great business idea will usually fail. Set yourself up for
success by considering each of the points raised in this
article.
