Another quick reminder. If you are involved in retail sales, now
is about time for you to start preparing for the coming winter
and Christmas sales periods. Yes, I *know* it's still months
away. Yes, I *know* you've not even had your summer holiday yet!
But I also know that nothing beats being prepared.
For all it's speed, some things online can take more time than
anticipated. For example, if you want to be sure your pages are
listed in all the important places by mid-November, you'd better
start optimizing and submitting them now.

Planning to spend on advertising this season? Begin investigating
your options now. Many of the best locations/deals will be booked
several months in advance. Start early, and you can be sure of
having the time to thoroughly plan an effective strategy.
A web site re-design due? Server move on the cards? Set the ball
rolling. There *will* be glitches. Get them resolved in plenty of
time. Don't end up losing sales because your new site doesn't
convert. Allow plenty of time for unhurried testing and refining.
If past years are anything to go by, we are now approaching the
summer sales lull, as people spend more of their time
out-and-about. The perfect time for you to formulate your plans,
and tune the machinery of your business. Once the leaves begin to
turn brown, sales activity will steadily build to the year-end
crescendo. Be prepared.

Oh, and one more thing ...
Over the last week I've been experiencing difficulties getting
online. Often, the lines to my ISP have been continually engaged.
Some days it's taking me an hour or more to log on, only to find
that data isn't moving anyway.
Why am I telling you this?
Because on several occasions it has been late night before I have
logged-on to download my email, by which time my mailbox is full
and bouncing emails. So, if you have written to me over the last
week and not yet received a reply, chances are your email didn't
reach me. Please send it again.
