Are you having difficulty deciding on a product of your own that

Do you understand cyber-speak? Terms like SSI, DHTML, Firewall,
CPM, CTR, flash, ping, etc.?

YES! >>>> 35%

I understand the majority of terms and acronyms I come across!

NO! >>>> 45%

I haven't a clue what most of them really mean!

ERR? >>>> 20%

I'm not sure... depends...?

[Azam: Interesting result this one. Certainly more YES votes than
I was expecting. This question also generated the highest
response ever! I'd like to personally thank all those that sent
in their votes - it makes my day when I see so many of you
getting involved! Don't forget to vote again this week. Include
your comments and if I use them, you'll get a free 2 line plug to

NO!

Azam,

All I know is that as a new problem comes up and I search for a
solution, I learn a few more terms...but the problem is that
there are so MANY things to "conquer" that I don't think I'll
ever catch up!

Crazy Miz B. WHAT THE HECK IS HIP HOP COUNTRY?
Listen FREE now and find out! http://www.crazedcowboys.com

[Azam: Yes Paula. Though I consider myself fairly well versed, I
can relate perfectly to your feelings. Even worse, with the ever
onward march of technology, new terms appear almost everyday. Do
you know what WAP means, for instance?]

ERR!

Of the ones you mentioned, I can say for sure that I understand
about half.

Anne Learn about "plain" churches:
        http://www.onelist.com/group/PLAIN

[Azam: If you're doing business online, you should really know
those. But don't despair Anne, I'm sure even the YES voters don't
know *all* the cyber-speak out there (I sure don't!)]

EUROPEAN WIN IN E-COMMERCE

The U.S. leads the 15-nation European Union in PC use, in
Internet uptake and in e-commerce generally, but the EU scores
higher in privacy laws - a situation highlighted last week when
negotiators signed a tentative agreement that puts U.S. companies
on notice that they face lawsuits if they fail to maintain higher
European standards of data protection, at least regarding the
personal data of Europeans. EU e-commerce consumers currently
have the right not only to know about any personal data files
kept by companies, but to see them, change them and delete them,
and to collect damages in cases of data abuse.

WORD FROM OUR SPONSOR

Internet advertising firm 24/7 has developed a product that will
serve up advertising to mobile phones via the Wireless
Application Protocol. The system is in trials across Europe,
peppering mobile phone users on already-sluggish WAP services
with a series of advertisements. The service, which will
eventually be made available to all of 24/7's European customers,
is already in use by e-commerce companies in Finland, Denmark and
Holland. 24/7's chief executive said the company plans to become
the leader in wireless advertising, which is expected to explode
in the coming months as WAP-compatible phones are rolled out
across Europe.

SPRECHEN SIE DEUTSCH?

New research from IDC reassures the Germans of their place in the
online sun. Germany itself has about 14 percent Internet
penetration, but German language users constitute the largest
single-language market in Europe, including users from Germany,
Austria and Switzerland. IDC estimates that the number of Germans
online will rise to 47.8 million by 2003, more than 50 percent of
the population. Source: http://www.thestandard.com

LAST DANCE

Lawyers in Microsoft's antitrust battle with the Justice
Department squared off before U.S. District Judge Thomas Penfield
Jackson one last time before he hands down his final ruling in
the landmark case. Jackson compared Microsoft's dominance of the
operating system market to Standard Oil's monopoly in the early
20th century - prompting speculation that a breakup of the
software giant is possible. The judge's ruling is expected within
weeks. http://www.thestandard.com/
