Providing great information is not enough. You need to grab your subscriber's attention, and hold it. People read to learn, but also seek excitement. Instant gratification. They lack the time to be patient, so stick to the point.
Whenever possible show, don't tell. Use vivid examples readers can picture and understand. Analogies, anecdotes and examples will make your ezine come alive.
When you've finished writing an issue, it's time to start deleting. Cut unnecessary sentences. Look for superfluous "filler" words and repetitions. Delete them. Add more punch and drive by killing adjectives. Use exciting verbs for a more enjoyable read.
And remember, no matter how many subscribers you have, you're always talking to one person, alone. You are NOT standing in front of a group of people. Avoid the use of terms like "you all," "you folks," etc., and talk to ME personally. Do that, and we'll both get more out of the relationship.
