Publish An Ezine That's Easy To Read

People are in a hurry, and bombarded with information. They probably have lots of other emails waiting to be read. To ensure you get the attention you deserve, you simply must present your ezine content in a way it can be quickly scanned for points of interest.

Unless your ezine is very brief, you need a table of contents right at the top of the page. It's more than just a courtesy. It's an advertisement. A sales message for your content.

Although it may be hard on the old ego, the fact is only your best fans will read your ezine from beginning to end. Accept that and make the best of the situation. If your ezine reaches a "scanner" like myself, and has no TOC, don't even hope they are going to wade through a couple of pages of text to see if there's anything of interest to them.

In a similar vein, don't write in long, dense paragraphs. Lengthy, unbroken runs of text are visually unappealing, and act as a subconscious block to reading (it looks like too much hard work - and who needs more of that?).

Use short paragraphs with lots of headings, sub-heads and white (empty) space. Make it easy for the eyes of your subscribers to search through your publication. Help them find the interesting stuff you have waiting for them, or they will move onto something else without even knowing what they've missed!
