Last time, we said that putting the "http://" bit at the beginning of links makes them "clickable" in just about all email software except AOL
To make links active in AOL, they must be formatted in HTML. This is a PITA, and whether you want to bother or not depends largely on the number of AOL addresses you have on your list.
Here's how the HTML link looks:
<a href="http://eBookSaver.com">AOL Users Click Here</a>
Hardly attractive, or small, is it?
To make matters worse, most non-AOL email clients won't recognize it as a link! That means typing two versions of every link in each issue of your ezine (or creating 2 separate lists, one AOL-only).
Fortunately, I've found a way around this. To make a HTML link active in regular email programs, I add a couple of spaces:
<a href=" http://eBookSaver.com ">AOL Users Click Here</a>
A HTML reader ignores the spaces, whilst they enable normal email clients to recognize the URL as a link.
This is the HTML version of an email link:
<a href="mailto:BizBits@NowSell.com">BizBits@NowSell.com</a>
or:
<a href=" mailto:BizBits@NowSell.com ">BizBits@NowSell.com</a>
