I've been fortunate to enjoy considerable success online. The key method I used to get profitable was keeping costs down, especially advertising costs. I didn't understand how to do this until I read Shawn Casey's book, Mining Gold On the Internet. Shawn has developed several very successful websites that bring in a ton of money. More importantly, he's build them all without spending a lot of money on marketing. I highly recommend Mining Gold On The Internet. Click here to get free info: http://www.mininggold.com/?51206!007
Intro
Hello,
I've decided to do something different today. Instead of the usual feature article, I thought I'd publish some of the emails I get.
People often write to me asking for Internet marketing advice, or help with a problem they have. Although it can be hard finding the time, I always try my best to answer specific questions (please don't write expecting a complete consultation free!).
I've been doing this for years, and not really thought much of it. But the other day it suddenly occurred to me that my replies would probably be of interest to other readers too.
So I'm considering running a regular "Your Questions Answered" section. It won't be as large as the section today - that's just a trial run to gauge your interest.
Of course if your question is published you also get to advertise your signature file to almost 10,000 Biz Bits subscribers.
Drop me a line and let know what you think. Is this something you'd like to see more of?
Send me your thoughts, suggestions or simply your questions.
Have a great weekend!
All the best,
Azam

Last Call For Traffic
Remember a few weeks ago I told you about an exciting system for bringing quality targeted search engine traffic to your site?
It's a set-it-and-forget-it system you can use to increase sales of your own products, or to make a full time income from affiliate programs. I've been getting great results with it.
At the time I said that you could expect the small one-time fee to quadruple over the coming months, before it goes off the market completely.
Well that's exactly what's happened. It's gone up twice already since my last mention, and is set to increase again tomorrow when it will be 4 times what I paid.
Joe Chapuis, the product's creator, has decided to stop selling the system much sooner than expected - at the end of this month!
Joe - who uses the exact same system to generate a healthy income for himself - is concerned about the possible repercussions of letting too many people in on his secrets, and creating unnecessary competition for himself and other users.
Bad news if you've not joined before the end of the month.
For myself and other members it's absolutely wonderful news!
Only a few people will ever know about our powerful system, or learn the secret tips and tactics revealed in the members only forum.
That means we have less competition.
I'm not bragging, but members (who include some heavyweight Internet marketers) have a serious advantage over everyone else looking to attract huge volumes of targeted search engine traffic and convert it into cash.
The last day you can order is the 30th of April.
And as I said, it's just a one-time fee.
That gets you a lifetime membership, with access to all the tools, forum and system manual.
There are no monthly charges whatsoever. And it's dynamite!
Details here: http://nowsell.com/bb/to.cgi?l=f.td
It's the best bargain I ever bought.
Doubly so since Joe is not only incredibly helpful, but continually advancing the system and sharing his discoveries and updates.
If you've some experience with building websites, or any interest in SEO, join now before it's too late. You won't regret it.
I'm not promising you instant riches, but even without a product of your own, in 6 months or less you can be making a real income from affiliate programs. And be well on the way to a massive subscriber list to boot.
All automated.
You just follow Joe's instruction.
I wouldn't have taken up so much space mentioning this for a second time if not for feeling it's something any serious marketer shouldn't miss out on.
I can't over-emphasize what a gold mine this could be for you.

Your Internet Marketing Questions Answered
Question:
Hi Azam,
I'm launching a new site. It's not done yet, but does have a lot of content, and no "under construction" pages...would you suggest I start submitting to search engines now, or wait until I'm really "done"?
Julie Bateman Web Developer Doing it in T.O. http://www.doingitinto.com
Answer:
Go ahead and submit as long as the incompleteness of the site will not cause either:
- Many "page not found" 404 server errors due to missing pages and broken links. A 404 error or two is normal, but the search engines will knock off "ranking points" if they find a lot.
- A poor user experience that may put a surfer off returning to the site again (if that's important - getting a start on rankings can often be worth more than the loss of a few intolerant visitors. If the content is good, most people will bear with you).
Before submitting, get at least one link from another already listed site - a directory link will help rankings most, next a site on a similar topic. Failing that, another site of your own will do for starters. Some SE's won't list a site that doesn't have at least one incoming link ("This site can't be very good if not even ONE page in our database links to it!").
If a search engine already has a page linking to you in its database, I would advise you not to submit your site to that particular engine. These days the SE's seem to prefer to find you themselves via links, so go that route wherever you can, submit manually where you can't.
Ignore the "Submit to 10 zillion search engines" rubbish, and just do the majors. Monitor results as most search engines only look at a fraction of the pages submitted for free.
Submit again if your site doesn't appear after 5 weeks (or sooner depending on when the engine updates it's listings - you could submit once a week until your site appears - you won't be penalized for over submitting).
Question:
Hi Azam,
I enjoy your newsletter. I was just wondering if you know of a referral script like you have, because letemknow.com is closing and not accepting new members?
Also, what do you see as the future of ezines and owning a list. Is this still as important given all the problems and amount of poor quality newsletters that no-one reads?

Answer:
I use Viral Marketer Pro by Vishal Rao at http://raovishal.com/ but a search on Google.com should throw up many more (written in 2000, there are probably some even better ones by now as well). Most scripts of this kind are easy to install.
It's difficult to predict exactly what the future holds, but ezines will certainly be around in one form or another for a long time to come, and owning a list will always be very important.
But the golden years appear to be over.
Today, the shear volume of email people receive - publications, notifications, personal and office communications, junk rags and spam - plus the widespread use of inaccurate spam filters mean readership levels have plummeted.
That being the case, publishing a full-blown ezine may no longer offer the best returns on your time. It all depends on your target market and the kind of site you have, plus how easy and enjoyable or not you find writing.
If you're targeting a niche market where you can set yourself up as the expert or "voice" in a community, then you can't beat a good ezine to create a highly profitable band of loyal prospects and customers.
In more general markets readership will be lower, and you might consider cutting costs to maintain your ROI. Simply sending out occasional updates, news of special offers and the like, may well be a better investment of your time.
Alternatively, you can initially offer a free ecourse to build some rapport, and then keep in touch with infrequent mailings.
Only you yourself can judge the best route for you, but bear in mind that publications which get personal with some unique content will always have the edge over the rest.
The bottom line is you have to consistently provide something subscribers view as benefiting them in some way, and which they can't easily get elsewhere.
That's often taken to mean unique information or community content, but there are other options. For example, even something as simple as a monthly bulletin of special discount offers (real ones), can work as long as they are properly targeted to recipients who view that news as valuable.
Question:
Hello Azam,
I really like your newsletter and find it very interesting. I have one question to ask. I have banner codes for several sites that I am presently marketing.
What I would like to know is how do I place the banner codes on the various sites? I have looked around all of the tutorials and none of them tell you how to actually get the codes onto the sites.
Thank you,
James Washington
Answer:
Adding the code is just a matter of copying and pasting it into the HTML of your page, but here's a tip that also makes it easy to get the banner to appear exactly were you want.
- Open the page you wish to add the code to in a html editor.
- Place your cursor in the exact spot you want the banner to appear, and type "XYZ".
- If your HTML editor has an option to view the source code, switch to the source code view. If you can't do that save the page, and then open it in a plain text editor like Word-Pad.
- Either using the program's search function, or just by reading through the code, locate the letters "XYZ" you typed earlier.
- Now, select (highlight) the complete banner code you wish to add to the page and copy it.
- Drag your cursor over the letters "XYZ" to select them (if you see "<p>XYZ</p>" select everything, including the <p> and </p> bits).
- Click on "Paste" and paste the banner code over the letters "XYZ" (or "<p>XYZ</p>").
- Save the page.
Your banner is now on the page, in the position you want. However, you may not see anything until you upload the page to your Web Site, and view it in a browser whilst connected to the Internet.
Question:
I was just wondering what programs you use for the eCommerce in eBooks. I see that the books I had ordered no longer can be downloaded. I am in the process of creating some books myself and wanted to know how to go about finding out how to limit time for downloads like you do.
Thanks for the help,
Randy Tallman
Answer:
We've recently started using the QuickPay Pro sales automation system, which creates automatically expiring delivery pages. You can find out more here: http://nowsell.com/bb/to.cgi?l=qpp
Here's another similar service you might want to take a look at: http://nowsell.com/bb/to.cgi?l=1cart
Our third party credit card processor, 2Checkout also uses expiring links to our regular download pages, which is what you probably came across. Here's their link: http://nowsell.com/bb/to.cgi?l=2check
For the ultimate in protection from piracy however, I suggest you check out the service below - it's quite amazing, and very affordable: http://nowsell.com/bb/to.cgi?l=clikl
Hope that helps. Best of luck with your ebooks!

Question:
Hello Azam,
I was looking for the Wes Blaylock adtracking script when I came upon your correspondence concerning this script on Google. I followed your advice and signed-up as an affiliate with SiteSell.
I did manage to download the script there is just one problem. It refers to an adps.txt file which I presume is a password file which is not among the files I downloaded.
I have sent an email two days ago to site-sell asking about this, and didn't get any reply. The same with Wes. I believe you have installed the script, so you should be able to assist.
Thanks,

Answer:
Wow! That's an old page you've found Leonard! Although SiteSell is still a very good affiliate program, I no longer use that script, and cannot find the file you mention in my old tracker folder (I may have an earlier version). Some people have also found it a bit tricky to install.
For a basic free script, I recommend LnkinLte. It only records the number of times a link is clicked on, so you will need something else for properly tracking sales and measuring results. However, for those situations where you just want a rough idea of how popular a link is, this script is ideal. It's pretty straightforward to install, and has a nice simple interface.
You'll get it here: http://www.NowSell.com/c/to.cgi?l=lnkinlte
If you need proper tracking, Lightning Track is the best script solution. It's the only tracker you can install on your own server that will tell you not only how many clicks you got to each URL, but also how many sales resulted. Another unique feature of Lightning Track the built-in three-way split tester.
Split testing is the automatic redirection of your clickthroughs to send equal numbers to two or more different versions of the same page. One version will be your "control" page used to compare your results against. On the other version(s) you change a single element at a time, split testing to see which page works best after each modification.
For example, you might test two (or three) different headlines, with half of your clickthroughs going to one page with headline 'A', and half to another identical page with headline 'B'. If the page with headline 'B' gets most sales, you know headline 'B' is better than headline 'A'.
Split testing is the only accurate way of knowing which parts of a page are adding to, or detracting from it's performance. It enables you to quickly maximize your conversion rates and profits.
You can get Lightning Track here:
http://www.NowSell.com/c/to.cgi?l=lightt
I use LnkinLte a lot in Biz Bits ezine just to see which things are popular, but for proper tracking I use the built-in tracking of the sales system I use:
http://nowsell.com/c/to.cgi?l=s.qp
Otherwise, these are the best two tracking services:

Question:
Azam, I need to know how to put a pop up on my page, without getting into the script, and make my pop up so that when anyone clicks on my page, my popup attaches it self to their page, I know it works, because Shorturl wanted me to put their banner on my page and I told them I couldn't get into the replicating web page, so they ask me permission to put their pop up, and that same day it was there. can you help me ?, step by step on how to do it?
Thanks TL
Answer:
Short URL are probably serving the pop-up from their domain when someone clicks on your link. In other words, the pop-up is NOT actually on your page, it just appears as though it is.
Like this:
- Someone clicks on your short URL
- The Short URL system redirects to your page, simultaneously sending a request calling the Short URL pop-up.
- Your page and the short URL pop-up both appear to the surfer.
The way to get your pop-up to appear at the same time as a replicating page is to use an invisible frame.
The visible frame fills the browser window with the replicating page, the invisible frame loads a hidden page containing your pop-up code, causing the pop-up to fire.
Here's the code:
<.frameset rows="0%,100%">
<.frame name="top" src="http://www.Your-Replicating-Page-URL"
marginwidth="1" marginheight="1" scrolling="no" frameborder="0">
<.frame name="bottom" src="http://www.Your-PopUp-Page.html"
marginwidth="0" marginheight="0" scrolling="no" frameborder="0">
<./frameset>
Put the code above between the <.body> and <./body> tags in a new web page. Then set the Short URL service to redirect to this new page instead of your replicating page.
Note: I have added a period "." after each left bracket "<" above to prevent the code being acted on by your email application. Delete the periods before use.
