In this context, what I mean by repositioning is marketing the same PLR content to several different audiences.
This is a great way to make your product appear unique. And since this idea is based on using the same content several times, it also enables you to get a lot more mileage – and value – from a PLR ebook.
Even better, by repositioning the original PLR ebook to target a different market, you have effectively reduced your competition from other purchasers of the content to zero!
Although repositioning can be done to some degree with almost any PLR ebook, it's most easily done with those on fairly general topics. What you need is a subject that's of interest to a wide spectrum of people, who can be subdivided into smaller but clearly identifiable interest groups or niches that you can target.
Examples Of PLR eBooks To Reposition
Time management is a good example to illustrate the concept, because it's a subject of interest to a wide range of people – almost everyone who's busy. A general book on time management can be positioned to target any of the many different subgroups that busy people can be divided into.
For example, you could have Time Management for Doctors ... for Single Parents ... for Home Business Owners ... for Students ... for Working Mothers ... etc.
You could even have "Time Management for Golfers," with the angle being how to organize your life so that you have more time to play!
This tight niche targeting also works wonders for sales – as a rule, specific topics sell better than general ones. If you are a working mother, which ebook title do you think would grab your attention more?

or
Effective Time Management For Working Mothers
The answer is obvious, right?
Other easy topics this method works with include: internet marketing or aspects of it (internet marketing for working mothers, email marketing for dentists, etc.), stress management, personal finance, basic accounting, tax returns, relationships, exercise for busy people, quick recipe books, etc. With a few minutes brainstorming I'm sure you can come up with many more.
How to Reposition PLR eBooks
Whatever your source subject or target market, the process of repositioning will generally be the same:
Change the ebook title to specifically target the niche
Create an introduction that specifically targets the niche
Change the ebook chapter headings to specifically target the niche
Work through the book, looking for opportunities to insert comments related to the niche. Rewrite tips, examples, and other explanatory segments to make them niche-specific.
Add images relevant to the niche
That's really all there is to it.
Whilst it's easier done in some cases than others, the basic premise remains the same: You can take one PLR ebook and turn it into several different ebooks in different niches just by changing a few bits here and there!
Many other PLR ebooks can be repositioned to a lesser degree. A guide to almost any subject can be simplified to become a beginner's or "newbie" guide, or targeted to stay at home mothers, for example.
Another option is to have ebooks translated into different languages. For more on this, plus lots of other useful self-publishing advice, read The Well-Fed Self-Publisher: How to Turn One Book into a Full-Time Living
