If you’re using podcasts regularly in your marketing, or are thinking of starting, you’ll almost certainly want somewhere to host them. That’s because the space, and especially bandwidth requirements of podcasting can soon become expensive if you simply add them to your website. You don’t need many downloads of a podcast that’s several MB in size to quickly exceed the basic bandwidth allowance of most traditional web hosting packages, requiring you to purchase additional bandwidth at a high rate.
This post from Tom Parish talks of an easy-to-use solution with unlimited bandwidth for podcasters he’s found at [Liberated Syndication->www.libysn.com].
Libsyn gives you a blog with a set of templates to choose from, and you can make changes to the look and feel if you’re comfortable making changes to scripts. It’s pretty easy; I made some quick changes myself. See www.wimaxpodcasting.com for my new Podcast series on WiMAX industry news with Tim Sanders.
Libsyn offers 4 levels of podcast syndication service for individual podcasters. Each service level contains the full set of libsyn features and unlimited use of bandwidth. This is a huge advantage over a conventional ISP account. If your podcast gets popular, you’re going to be paying very large monthly fees for bandwidth. Libsyn charges you only for your incremental storage needs each month as you add new podcasts.
