Useful Wordpress Plugins

There are so many plugins for wordpress that you can download for free. Type ?wordpress plugins? into google and you will find a ton. Wordpress is planning on making some available and has given links to a few here http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins

An example of a plugin that I find useful, which am using on this blog is called ?Custom Query String? downloadable with instructions here: http://mattread.com/projects/wp-plugins/custom-query-string-plugin? This plugin allows you to reorder your post to go from oldest to newest. (Wordpress defaults to showing the newest posts on top as most news related blogs would prefer)

This blog is constructed as a step by step instructional blog. It would make sense that I want to go in order. Every day I post, it goes below the first. This shows you how customizable your hosted blog can be.

All plugins have their own installation instructions, but its very similar to installing themes only that there is one extra step required.

Download and extract the files from the zip. Upload your files to yourdomain.com>wp-content>plugins. Then log in through admin and go to the plugin tabs. You must activate your plug in before you can use it. On the right, click activate. Once active, go to the Options Tab and you will find your new plug in available to configure.

In the CMS tab under Options:

add a new condition: query? is_home? (this means on your home page)
show x posts (how many posts you would like to show on your home page)
date ASC ?(goes in Ascending order from oldest to newest)
Click add and youre finished.
