Even the most prolific writers run out of ideas every once in a while. But SEO allows no one any holidays. If you want to keep your website on top of the game, you need to continually publish new content. A great free tool to help you get article ideas on popular subjects and generate targeted keyword titles is Google’s autocomplete search feature.

Google Autocomplete: An Overview

You are no doubt familiar with Autocomplete. Whenever you type a word or phrase in the Google search box, the search engine attempts to complete it for you. If, say, you type “facebook a” it suggests phrases such as “facebook api,” “facebook apps” and “facebook ads.” Designed for searchers’ convenience, it inadvertently provides webmasters and internet marketers a valuable SEO tool.

Why is this? Because Google’s autocomplete algorithm is based in previous searches made by Google users. Therefore the phrases suggested by the feature tell you what people are looking for related to a particular keyword.

How Autocomplete Can Help Your SEO

To continue with the above example, suppose you are targeting the keyword “facebook password.” But what kind of articles to write about Facebook passwords? Google’s Autocomplete helps give you an idea.

Simply enter “facebook password” and then add a letter before or after the phrase. Then wait for Google to suggest phrases for you.

Example: “g facebook password” may yield phrases such as “get facebook password” while “facebook password c” may get you “facebook password change” or “facebook password cracker.”

Run through each letter of the alphabet, first at the beginning of the phrase and then aferward. Make a note of each title that you want to use in an article.

You may notice that many articles are rather synonymous with one another. Some might decide to write unique articles for each phrase, but beware of doing this. If your articles are too similar or if they target mere synonyms, your site might appear to be spamming.

With 26 letters in the alphabet and multiple places to insert each letter, you can imagine the number of possible titles this method can get you. You need never run out of article ideas again.

Once you have a sizeable list of article ideas, write outlines of each title. Use the autocomplete phrase in the title. You could also use variations of that phrase in the article tiself to get maximum coverage of the phrase.

You can then schedule your articles for publication on your site as you need to.

A Warning About Using Google Autocomplete

This method lets you cover multiple variations of a keyword fairly easily. But before you get too excited with this idea, do keep in mind one thing: Doing this with a keyword would be worth the effort only if the keyword has enough monetary value or linkbait value. That is, if the titles you create will either make you money or get you backlinks or both. Research the value of a keyword first before you run on an autocomplete rampage with it.
